I’m Alive

May 4, 2008

Did anybody see Pearl Harbour? Say what you want about Ben Afleck, but that was an amazing movie and I think he was a fantastic Dare Devil. On a further note, I love that part where Ben Afleck writes to his woman and it opens with “This is the first I could get out word… I’m alive.”

Anyways. I’ve been busy as you might have guessed. Exams and final projects and work and a few hours for sleep here and there. That having been said I also kind of forgot I had a blog really, just being busy doing stuff. So as an update…

I’ve joined WCHL hockey (http://www.wchlhockey.com) as the General Manager of the Florida Panthers. I’m hoping to have a webpage up and running for my team, and when I get around to it I’ll let you know.

My Girlfriend and I had our 1 year anniversary on March 26th. It was getting rocky for a while there, admittedly, but we’ve made it, and now that exams are over we’re working on strengthening what have. And now she is reminding me that I need to give one of her teddy bears a story. And I’m also told I’m not allowed to write it here.

I’ve thrown myself into another writing project (like I don’t already have enough of them on the go) and I might have some stuff to say about that soon.

For now though, I’ll leave you with this and then go on my way. Have a good one!

Story: A Long Night (cont.)

February 29, 2008

Justin shakes his head, remembering when someone managed to hack his armour and chase him around with it, then pushes forward up the train. “So what am I looking for Nick?”

“Intelligence in this region suggests that we might be looking at another biological bomb built to turn more people into monsters.”

“Different from the heroes thing I’m using right?”

“Bingo, but this is more than just a search and destroy mission. Our boys in the field reported back that Dr. Basch is likely the one who designed the bomb. I’m piping you information to your HUD.”

“Har har Nick,” Bear responds apathetically, “har har.”

“And since this guy know more about what’s going with this whole ‘monsters heroes thing’ than anyone…”

“You’re looking for me to try and trace it.”

“You got it. Alright kid, by our calculations you’ve got 5 minutes before it’s so deep in the mountains we can’t get it out the other side in time. If the train makes it through the mountain and explodes we’re going to have some serious problems on our hands. And by our hands, I mean yours.”

Justin rolls his eyes and stops at the door to the 4th cabin. The carts up to this point have been empty, a few crates with not much of anything on them, but Bear can hear voices on the other side of this door. “Adrianna, can you scan for people in the room?”

My technology base does not allow me to scan beyond a 25 foot radius.

“Ain’t that a shame.” Fury says, again with a smile audibly creeping onto his face.

Bear decides he doesn’t like Fury listening in on his conversations as it affords him more opportunities than necessary to get in his one liners “Alright, give me the-”

There appear to be 6 occupants all carrying mid to heavy machine guns and wearing tech gear. They have formed in an ambush position.

“Why?” Bear asks his voice perking up a bit, curious as to who they were waiting for.

By my best calculations given my limited ability to scan the room, the tech they are wearing has likely notified them of your presence.

“You know what great? Stealth mode.”

“Fury, shut up.”

Story: A Long Night

February 24, 2008

The wind hums lowly masking the sound of the man in the green cloak as he drops from the roof of the long since forgotten train stop between Washington and Arizona. It dawns on him now, as he puts out his right hand to catch the end of the bullet train, that he won’t be able to use his sword. It doesn’t concern him at this stage however, he can’t figure a reason to be discovered.

The tug on his arm is sharp, but this was the only spot to get on; Where the train slows before entering the turn into the mountain pass. After he balances himself the man in the green cloak opens the rear hatch of the caboose, as much as they can be called cabooses these days, and slides in around the corner keeping low behind some boxes. “Fury,” Justin says quietly, “I’m in.” Though he prefers to go by the moniker ‘Bear’ while he’s under this identity.

“Gotcha kid, we’re tracking you now.” Fury of course would never use either moniker, even when Bear was going as ‘Iron Knight’. “You sure you want to be doing this?”

“Look, I don’t care if you don’t want to support me-”

Hey, SHIELD supports its agents. If we weren’t behind you I wouldn’t be your controller. Did you get those gloves I sent you?”

“I assumed that’s how you were tracking me.”

“No, we’re tracking you through Nanites in your blood, the gloves are something else entirely.”

Hello Sir.

Justin’s taken back a bit by the familiar sound of his Iron Knight’s AI, “Adriana?”

All agent parameters are at optimal levels Colonel, mission on schedule.

“Thanks Adriana,” Nick says audibly smiling, “Adriana will be performing a lot of her previous responsibilities minus one or two things. She can manipulate the nanites in your blood through the polymer layer in your gloves, however there’s a lot she can’t do. She won’t be able to change out oxygen supplies making you susceptible to poisons, nerve gasses, that sort of thing.”

Justin rolls his eyes as he makes his way through the caboose to look through the glass port hole in the door, “yeah, yeah, I get the point Nick.”

“That having been said, should you need it Adriana can pilot Iron Knight to your location on command.”

Justin stops for a moment after entering into the second car, empty save for a few large crates, “from where?”

“About 300 yards behind you.”

Bear turns and looks through the port holes to see Iron Knight’s glowing eyes and waving hand, deciding it is exceedingly weird to be looking at it following him.

Openning my Big Mouth

February 8, 2008

There will still be a site update… There will be updating… but I’ve run into a very unfortunate problem.

WordPress won’t let me edit the HTML, just the style sheet…. so let me put that in lam-ens terms…. I can’t build my own house, I can only paint one that already exists.

This isn’t a completely horrible fate, nothing I can’t recover from, just not what I was hoping for. That having  been said I really have no desire to remove myself from WordPress, I don’t think I have any earthly desire to go back to having to reference images from photodump. I want to manage it all from one place like a real boy.

Apparently I can get the thing hosted on another server which will allow me to change the HTML, but that’s extra money I don’t frankly want to spend right now. Maybe down the road, but not right now. That having been said, if this lady is serious about buying my van then I will have no reservations about buying a small server space. So… who knows.

Okay…. now for the real thing.

Things are going fairly well. My Girlfriend and I are learning things about eachother as evidenced by this somewhat rocky week this week, but that satisfies me. If everything was going well, I’d be relatively nervouse. See that’s the thing about relationships people don’t understand; If everything is working out for you two, and you’re not entering into any conflicts, you are going to be royally screwed when you do.

I learned how to bake the peanut butter chocolate awesomeness from my Girlfriend’s mom. It is made entirely out of awesome sauce.

I still haven’t gotten around to actually starting to write for Bear. Well that’s not true, I’ve started, but I keep losing my drafts as I’ve begun writing them by hand. Doing this prevents many standard crap ass errors and gives me a chance to make sure everything flows instead of just letting my mind wander… of course as a down side I keep losing the damn paper. I’m pretty excited though, I’ve got plenty of ideas. I’ve never wrote a single story from two different time frames (Story 1 = x – 7 ; Story 2 = x + 7) so this will be a huge challenge in continuity which is exactly what I need. I fail epically at continuity… epic fail.

Did I mention that my Son is starting grade school?

Things to Come

This is a preview of what the new site is going to look like. I’d ask you to tell me what to think, but the 14 or so of you who read this thing don’t leave comments…. Ever…. Except Annalise, ’cause she’s my hero… And now I actually feel pretty guilty because it’s been forever since I read her blog.

<shrugs> I’ll fix that eventually.

I’m pretty juiced for this website update actually. I’m doing all new image tricks with photoshop, stretching my limits… It’ll be fun at any rate….

My only major concern of ‘course is this CSS thing. I don’t actually have rights to modify layouts and so on, and the widget system is something new and none of my HTML editors deal with them… and the web tutorials are sparse at best.

but it shall be done…. oh shall it ever be done.

Where We’re Headed Now.

January 25, 2008

Oh, we’re headed places, let me tell you.

So there’s a new feature that’s been added to WordPress that makes me all happy on the inside…

The free space available on WordPress has been updated to 3GB. WordPress is now officialy made of awesome sauce. That’s right, I said it.

I’m actually in class right now. Tee hee hee. I really love my class too. I get to crack jokes with a bunch of guys who are taking this course because they have to, which is also crossed with they need to pass it but don’t care enough to do that well. As a teacher this would annoy me, but as a fellow student, this is high gorramn hillarious.

My girlfriend liked the last half of her gift, which I finally managed to finish and give to her (It really sucks being kicked out of your house). She’s still annoyed with the cliff hanger fashion I write with however, but I’m excited to continue with it. I think that’s kidn of been symbiotic part of our relationship. She enjoys having something written for her, and I enjoy having someone who will ‘push’ a bit for some of my writing so I can keep up with it.

Spelling/Grammar (like Manor/Manner) is still a problem… more on the spelling side of things but meh. She’s volunteered to be my editor… a mistake that I will not give her time to regreat.

Well now that I have this space I’m obviously going to have to upload more pictures….. of course first I’ll need a camera… crap…. well atleast I can start on a layout. Now all I have to do is wait for them to offer CSS formatting for free :P… well it is only 14 bucks…. I’ll ponder this for a time.

/I’m Still Here

The land is hot and dry on my face, though I can’t seem to bring myself to open my eyes. it’s rought on my skin, and there’s more exposed than their should be. I think I’m missing most of my chest armor and my right sleeve. I try to remember what happened but all I can muster are quick pictures. A man, probably a wizard from the flame that seems to engulf but not burn him, is attacking us; The Beyonders. We’re locked in pitched battle and things aren’t going well. Our little time together shows clearly as we spend a fair portion of the fight tripping over one another.

Why were we fighting? I can’t remember. A sudden scent of sulfur wakes me from my lucid dream and causes me severe pain as I lurch up straining my already bruised and battered body. I see fire and brimstone; I see unearthly things; I see a wretched gate, the last thing holding this world from ours… I’ve gone beyond the veil, yet not in the direction I had figured I would go.

I’ve been summoned to the gates of Hell.

Will come later.
